Hostel Updates

After spending the past 16+ months exceeding CDC guidelines and doing our best to keep our community, guests, and family safe, we finally feel a bit of comfort in the state of the pandemic. With cases continuing to lower, a fully vaccinated staff, and the ability to keep windows open all summer, we are thrilled to return to as close to normal as is reasonable. Please read below for the changes that we’ve kept for now, and we appreciate your support as we move forward!

  • Breakfast is back! Our hearty continental breakfast has returned with some minor tweaks for reduced contact. You can count on us to provide you with bottomless organic locally roasted coffee, fresh baked goods, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, bagels and spreads, orange juice, and much more.

  • Mini fridges will be removed from rooms (and returned to the wonderful people who allowed us to borrow them!)

  • Mask-free common areas! (With windows open and air purifiers still running)

We’re exceptionally lucky that we have a large, airy building full of spacious bedrooms and easy access to dozens of outdoor recreation options. We hope that you’ll enjoy your time at Hostel of Maine as much as ever before and rest easy knowing we’re continuing to take precautions to keep folks safe.

Of our guests, we ask:

  • For understanding; we are doing our very best implementing necessary changes to operate in a way that is safe for our guests, our staff, ourselves, and our community.

  • For guests who are not vaccinated to continue wearing face masks while in close proximity to others.

  • That you utilize the hand sanitizer provided throughout the building and wash your hands in your own private bathroom frequently with soap & water.

  • That you stay home if you are experiencing symptoms or believe yourself to have come into contact with someone who has COVID-19. To encourage this we are temporarily waiving our cancellation policy for those who are at high risk of having contracted COVID-19 and allowing free reservation modifications. Please do not abuse this flexibility.
